Moderate quake hits Indonesia's Papua

The earthquake occurs at 2:39 am and is centred 190 kilometres west-northwest of Jayapura.

A moderate 5.7 magnitude earthquake struck near the north coast of Indonesia's eastern province of Papua today, geologists said.

The earthquake occurred at 2:39 am (2309 IST) some 29.1 kilometres underground and was centred 190 kilometres west-northwest of Jayapura, the provincial capital, according to the US Geological Survey.
