As the present term of Gujarat government ended on Monday, Chief Minister Narendra Modi met Governor Nawal Kishor Sharma and submitted the resignation of the state cabinet, official sources said.

Modi handed over the resignation to the Governor at the Raj Bhavan this morning.
While accepting the resignations, Sharma asked Modi to continue as the "care-taker" Chief Minister till the new government is formed.
The Governor also congratulated Modi for his victory in the state assembly elections.
Modi is expected to take oath as chief minister for the third consecutive time at the swearing-in ceremony to be held at the Sardar Patel stadium in Ahmedabad.
The function will be held at 1250 hours on Tuesday, an official statement said in Ahmedabad.
