Modi 'defamatory' post case: Police record statement of complainant in MP

The police recorded the statement of a person who had alleged that a town inspector of Kotwali police station in district Narsinghpur uploaded on the social media certain defamatory comments against PM Narendra Modi.

The police on Saturday recorded the statement of a person who had alleged that a town inspector of Kotwali police station in the district Narsinghpur uploaded on the social media certain defamatory comments against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Sushant Purohit made a complaint to the police alleging town inspector (TI) Ravindra Kumar Gautam uploaded certain defamatory comments against Modi. According to Purohit, the stuff uploaded on the social media compared the marital status of Modi with that of the affairs of Congress leader Digvijaya Singh with a television journalist.

The matter carried photograph of Modi and Singh with certain slogans that were insulting to the person who is holding the post of prime minister, the complainant said.

The complainant said he learnt the matter from his friends during a function held on the occasion of Diwali and he searched for it on social media sites and found the defamatory comments against Modi were uploaded from the account of Gautam.
