Molestation by cop protested
RESIDENTS OF Lohta, 15 kilometres from here, on Thursday blocked road to protest against the alleged molestation of a woman by a cop late last night. Reports said the woman, Rabri Devi, wife of, Pappu of Karota area under Lohta police station informed the villagers on Thursday about misbehaviour of a cop in uniform on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday. People gathered on the road and blocked traffic for over two hours demanding identification and arrest of the cop.

Reports said the woman, Rabri Devi, wife of, Pappu of Karota area under Lohta police station informed the villagers on Thursday about misbehaviour of a cop in uniform on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday.
People gathered on the road and blocked traffic for over two hours demanding identification and arrest of the cop. Station Officer, Lohta police station, Mohd Sajjid Siddiqui said the cops convinced the agitating mob who lifted the dharna following assurance the matter would be thoroughly investigated.
“The aggrieved party did not file a complaint in this connection, but we are investigating the allegation levelled by the woman who was also sitting on the dharna,” Siddiqui said.
Mob beat up S-I
THE OFFICER in charge of a police outpost, sub-inspector Amresh Singh Baghel, was beaten up by a mob in Ranipur Colony under the Bhelupur police station on Thursday. The mob is reported to have also snatched the service revolver and handset of sub-inspector. Later, it was handed over to the Superintendent of Police by the accused. The injured sub-inspector has been taken to the hospital for treatment.
The cause of attack is stated to be the fallout of police intervention on a piece of land in the colony. However, the accused Ram Nagina Bind has been detained by the police in Mehmoorganj outpost for interrogation.
