As soon as you enter, veiled beauties accompany you to the table. Silk and bead curtains, African and West Asian art on the rugs and paintings on easels, mirrors and candles and sensual white drapes and rugs. That’s the ambience at The Moorish Fable, the new bar at the Olive Bar and Kitchen.

The launch party on Sunday night was attended by the people from fields as diverse as sports, fashion, art, music and Bollywood. It was the ambience that clicked with everyone. Remarked Monia Kasri, wife of Tunisian ambassador Elyes Kasri, “The evening reminds me of my country. Delhi always has something surprising to offer.” Concurred fashion designer Hemant Sagar, “This is awesome. It seems like some other part of the world.”

AD Singh, the owner of Olive Bar and Kitchen, was obviously very excited. Dressed up for the evening in a red robe, he explained the bar as a beautiful space in the shadow of the Qutub Minar, “We’ve been waiting to open it for almost a year now.”

Snake-charmers and a tarot card reader amused the guests. Said Norma Heine, wife of the Chilean ambassador, “The ambience and the crowd are cool and I am enjoying myself.” Lending glamour to the do were model Milind Soman, fashion designer Manish Arora and cricketer-turned-commentator Ravi Shastri.
