Mother arrested for killing her child

A 21-year old housewife has been arrested for killing her one month old child by flinging it on the floor at her residence at Kattakad near Thiruvananthapuram, police said.

The woman intially told police her child had died of suffocation while she was feeding it, but confessed to the murder when asked about the injury marks on the infant's body, police said.

The woman was arrested and remanded to judicial custody on Thursday, police said.

Family quarrel is stated to be reason for the crime, they said.
