Baby Shirin’s mother Shabana Azmi, 23, who reportedly left her husband two weeks ago has since been living with one Waheed. Apart from Shirin, Azmi has a six-year-old daughter and a four-year-old son.

When the baby was admitted to MY Hospital by her mother and sister a couple of days back, the staff, suspecting foul play, reported the matter to the police. Police questioned the children and arrested Waheed for torturing them after recording the eldest child’s statement.

It turned out that Waheed had allegedly forced Azmi into prostitution and would beat up the children whenever she wasn’t around.

“Waheed inflicted cigarette burns on Shirin and used hot objects to burn her hands and legs. He also broke her arms,” said Azmi’s elder daughter. Waheed was arrested on Monday.

Soon after, the children’s father, Iqbal, came to know about the incident and rushed to the hospital.

Iqbal has sought legal custody of all three children.
