Apart from Chouhan and Rajput, there are 11 candidates in the fray in Budhni but none of them have made their presence felt.

Chouhan, who had defeated Congress candidate Rajkumar Patel by a margin of 36,525 votes in the Budhni by-elections in 2006 and had also won his first election from here by defeating Hari Singh of the Congress by a margin of 22,810 votes from this constituency in 1990.

Chouhan seems to be confident about his victory in the upcoming assembly polls as he has not visited the constituency after filing his nomination papers but his poll managers were taking nothing for granted and harping on the development activities carried out in the region.

The BJP cadre was requesting people to vote en masse to ensure that the Chief Minister wins the election with the highest record margin in Madhya Pradesh.

On the other hand, Rajput's spirited campaign was focused on corruption issue with the allegation that people close to Chouhan had syphoned off huge sums of money in development works carried out in the region.

Rajput and his supporters were trying hard to reach every family in the constituency in a bid to woo the voters.

A BJP campaigner, Brijesh Chouhan claimed that the Chief Minister got innumerable development works carried out in the constituency.
