Special Public prosecutor Ejaz Khan told the court that the investigations are on. Some incriminating evidence was recovered from Patil’s house and its forensic reports are awaited.

Patil was arrested on June 6, by the CBI sleuths for his alleged role in the dual murder of Pawanraje Nimbalkar and his driver Samad Kazi. They were gunned down on June 3, 2006.

The case was transferred to the CBI by Bombay High Court in October last year following a petition by Nimbalkar’s wife Anandibai, when Mumbai police failed to make any headway in the case.

The CBI had initially arrested another accused Parasmal Jain who led them to Patil.

Khan also responded to Patil’s request of home food and medicines saying, “We told the court that it can be provided as per the jail manual.”

He also said that the court granted permission to Patil to sign some cheque leaves but Khan wanted copies of them.

Patil’s lawyer said he might move a bail application in the Alibaug sessions court next week.

Patil would be lodged in the Taloja jail in Panvel.
