MP in SAIL cricket Under-19 semi-final

MADYA PRADESH Under-19 cricket team has sailed into the last four in SAIL Trophy for the Under-19 All India Inter State Cricket Tournament being played at Bhilai. The MP team has exhibited its superiority in winning all the three matches to qualify for the semis.

MADYA PRADESH Under-19 cricket team has sailed into the last four in SAIL Trophy for the Under-19 All India Inter State Cricket Tournament being played at Bhilai. The MP team has exhibited its superiority in winning all the three matches to qualify for the semis.

In their first match MP skipper Shan-e Alam batted brilliantly to score 126 off 102 balls with 18 fours and two sixes. He got good support from Rohan Shrivastav who scored 72 in 95 balls with three fours and one six while Sohaib Iqbal contributed a useful 22 with three fours.

In the allotted 45 overs, MP scored 251 for 4.In reply, the Delhi batsmen failed to tackle the accurate bowling of Ashutosh Jadhav and were all out for 192 in 39.2 overs. Ashutosh in a spell of nine overs took four wickets conceding 34 runs. Rajeev Sharma and A Singh scored 55 and 35 runs respectively for Delhi.

Shan-e-Alam’s brilliant century helped him bag the Man of the Match award. In the second match Madhya Pradesh beat hosts SAIL in a low scoring match. MP won the toss and batting first scored186 for 8 in 45 overs. Sohaib Iqbal 45 and Rameez Khan 44 were the main scorers for MP. P Singh and Ansari took two wickets each for Delhi.

Chasing a low target of 187, hosts SAIL were all out for 151 in 40 overs and lost the match by 35 runs. Das and Ansari scored 38 and 31 runs respectively and the rest of the batsmen failed to do much against the accurate bowling of Asif Ali and Rameez Khan.

Asif Ali took 3 for 27 while Abhishek Gupta with 2 for 24 and Rameez Khan with 2 for 29 helped their team to emerge victorious by 35 runs. In the third match MP defeated Baroda by 22 runs to sail into the last four.

Batting first, MP scored 192 for 9 in 45 overs. Thanks to the ninth wicket partnership between Ashutosh Jadhav and Mayank Jagdale, 55 runs were added which helped MP to reach a respectable total that helped them win the match by 22 runs.

Rohan Shrivastav scored 31 with three fours and Sohaib Iqbal scored 24 with two fours. They added 57 runs for fourth wicket partnership after a shaky start. Ashuthosh Jadhav and Mayank Jagdale batted brilliantly to score 32 and 28 not out respectively to help their team to reach 192. Mitesh Gandhi 3 for 35, Karn Sheik and A Patel with 2 for 39 and 2 for 33 respectively were the main wicket takers for Baroda.

Chasing the total of 193, Baroda was able to score 170. Mayank Jagdale bowled well to grab four wickets for 31 runs in eight overs while Ashutosh Jadhav took two wickets for 22 runs to help their team sail into the last four.

Mayank Jagdale won the man of the match for his useful unbeaten 28 and capturing four wickets for 31 runs. The semi-final line up: MP vs Andhra and Delhi vs Jharkhand.
