MP: It’s ‘chicken treat’ for villagers on New Year’s Eve

It was chicken bonanza for hundreds of villagers from Khurampura village a day before New Year’s eve. A truck carrying over 3,000 chickens overturned near a village in Barwani district on Tuesday afternoon.

It was chicken bonanza for hundreds of villagers from Khurampura village a day before New Year’s eve, when a truck carrying over 3,000 chickens overturned near a village in Barwani district on Tuesday afternoon.

The incident took place on Agra-Bombay National Highway No 3 under Thikri police station limit, about 60-km east of Barwani district headquarters.

According to information from Thikri police station, a truck carrying chicken from Malegaon and on its way to Khalghat overturned while negotiating a sharp turn. After the accident, large number of birds (chickens) spilled onto the road and surrounding grass.

As soon as the news spread in Khurampura village, situated within a mile from the spot, hundreds of villagers rushed to the spot and ran away with chickens.
