A day after a two-month-old girl was branded by a tantrik in Shivpuri, reports of a six-year-old girl being branded by her own grandmother to cure her of illness have surfaced.

The incident occurred at Ranisingh village, under Rawati police station, about 25 kilometres west of Ratlam district headquarters on December 1.

The matter came to light on Saturday after she was brought to the district hospital. The girl has been referred to Indore's MY Hospital as her condition is still critical.

Surprisingly, the local police are yet to register a case against the accused grandmother claiming that they are yet to get the victim's medical report. When the matter reached the police, the accused grandmother fled from the village.

According to Raoti police station in-charge FS Chouhan, the child was suffering from frequent convulsion attacks, which made the grandmother take this step. The grandmother branded her more than 25 times with hot iron and a spoon.

According to government hospital in-charge Dr RC Damor, "Even after five days, there was no sign of improvement in her health and finally on Saturday she was referred to Indore's MY Hospital".
