Good news for commuters, who find it difficult to park their vehicles at Metro stations in the city. The Noida authority has decided to construct a multi-level parking lot at Botanical Garden Metro station to ease the problem. Besides, the authority will hand over more land to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to widen the existing parking lot at City Centre Metro station. These two Metro stations witness maximum number of footfalls during peak hours.

According to a senior official, the parking facility having a capacity of 4,000 vehicles will be developed on five acres of land adjoining Botanical Garden Metro station. At present, only 500 vehicles can be parked in the existing parking lot at the Botanical Garden station. The authority has earmarked land for the project, which is expected to be completed in 18 months.

“We want to ensure that nobody park their vehicles on the roads. The proposed multi-level parking lot will help end the traffic chaos outside the Metro station,” said Pramanshu, additional chief executive officer (ACEO), Noida authority.

“Metro commuters, mostly office-goers who have to go to Gurgaon and Delhi, park their cars and bikes at this station. But due to space crunch, they face problem. Many park their vehicles on the road that leads to congestion,” said Vivek Dhamam, a daily commuter.

The multi-level parking lot will solve parking issues at Botanical Garden metro station. A senior official said that the authority would also hand over more land to DMRC to widen the parking space at City Centre Metro station.
