Musharraf condemns suicide attacks

During his visit to an army camp at Dargain, the president said that the concept of suicide attacks was against the spirit of Islam.

Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf has said the concept of suicide attacks was against the spirit of Islam and his government was determined to fight terrorism in all its manifestations.

The president condemned suicide attacks during his visit to an army camp at Dargain on the border where 42 soldiers were killed in a suicide bombing last week.

Expressing his government's resolve to continue the fight against extremism and terrorism, he said the country would suffer if the government fails to check the menace.

He said the government was determined to fight extremism and terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.

Asking the nation to maintain unity and solidarity and raise voice against those who preached violence and hatred, he said elements trying to impose their radical thoughts on others should be rejected.
