After Dil Chahta Hai, Kal Ho Na Ho, Lakshya and Bunty Aur Babli, music director trio Shankar, Ehsaan and Loy are looking forward to working with Rituparno Ghosh.

They have been roped in to do the music for Raahagir. "Rituparno liked our music in Bunty Aur Babli and approached us. We, too, were very keen after going through the script and the deal was finalised in no time," says Ehsaan. "It is really a prized project for us and we are excited about it," says Shankar Mahadevan. "He is a renowned filmmaker and is one of the best in the industry. Working with him will also be a learning experience," he adds.

The trio promise to come up with something new in Raahagir. "We will soon be going to Kolkata to discuss the music with Rituparno. We know that his style of filmmaking is different from other directors. We have watched Chokher Bali and have liked it," says Ehsaan.

This will be the first time that the composers will be working for a Bengal-based director. But that does not mean that they are unaware of Bengali films. "We have watched almost all Satyajit Ray films starting from Pather Panchali to musicals like Gupi Gayen Bagha Bayen. Mrinal Sen, too, happens to be one of our favourites," says Ehsaan.

The trio has three big-budget films that will be released this year - Salaam-e-Ishq, Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna and Marigold: Adventures in India. "We have high expectations from all three films," says Shankar.
