Rajasekharan, the son-in-law of former AICC president and Karnataka chief minister S Nijalingappa, has a penchant for rural development and has been associated with several NGOs working in this field.

The 75-year-old leader has made an impact on the national and state political scene having served as a member of the Lok Sabha from 1967-71, MLA from 1978-82, as a member of the Karnataka legislative council and currently as a Rajya Sabha member.
