Myanmar hands over 22 Indians

Officials said the 22 people, who were allegedly involved in opium smuggling, were arrested from areas in Myamar.

Myanmar has handed over 22 Indian nationals who were arrested in that country nearly six months ago to authorities at Moreh border town in Manipur, officials said on Tuesday.

A Myanmarese team led by Deputy Director of Immigration U Kyan handed over the 22 people to Chandel district's Additional Deputy Commissioner Th Chote and Moreh police station officer-in-charge W Nongyai on Monday at Moreh.

Officials said the 22 people, who were allegedly involved in opium smuggling, were arrested from areas in Myamar bordering Singhat sub-division in Manipur's Churachandpur district on May 6.
