Narain Karthikeyan: Ran on the harder tyre with a heavy fuel load in first practice for the Japanese Grand Prix after which he had to fly back to India to please the sponsors who are counting on him to at least beat teammate Vitantonio Liuzzi during the inaugural Indian Grand Prix. With Daniel Ricciardo (who will vacate the HRT seat for Narain) comfortably outpacing Liuzzi again in Japan, Karthikeyan's prospects of a full time race seat for next year are looking good.
