The Nargis Dutt Society for Cancer Relief and Research recently held a Charity Gala Dinner at the Radisson SAS Portman Hotel to raise funds for the Society. Almost 300 guests attended this function where nearly £28,000 was raised.

A cheque for £10,000 was presented to Professor Colin Green, Director of The Northwick Park Institute for Medical Research. The Society has established a laboratory at Northwick Park in the memory of late Nargis Dutt. A cheque for £5,000 was also presented to Marina Phillips, Director of Finance of St Josephs Hospice, which is situated in Hackney, London.
The Nargis Dutt Society for Cancer Relief and Research which is active in many parts of India providing valuable cancer detection equipment to hospitals, was set up by Sunil Dutt, who is presently India's Minister of Sports.
The society has now several branches in the United Kingdom and is chaired by GS Gujral CBE. Gujral in his welcome address praised the guests for their generosity. They also pledged to help the Society tackle many more projects inside as well as outside India.
