National Kayaking: City girls hog limelight
Girls did city proud by winning silver and bronze medals in 17th National Kayaking and Canoeing Championship held at Bhopal. Taruna Nishad of Girls High School and Komal Nishad of Rama Devi Balika Inter College won silver medals in Sub Junior K-2. Under K -4 ,Taruna , Komal, Rekha Kashyap of Adrash Kanya Inter College and Kanak Pandey of Shivkali Inter College won bronze medals.

It is worth mentioning that Uttar Pradesh team bagged nine medals in the championship held at Bhopal from November 15 to 18. Kerala remained on the top with 18 gold medals, 5 silver and 6 bronze while SSCB won 18 gold and 1 silver.
Uttar Pradesh was placed 13th with 3 silver and 6 bronze medals amongst the total 24 teams from different States in the championship.
In the first category 500 meter C-1 , UP's Mahendra Kumar secured bronze medal and Preeti Pal of Allahabad Girls Inter College won bronze medal in Junior Girls' K-1.
Tribhuvan Nishad coach at Boat Club, Allahabad Development Authority imparted the training to the UP players. Tribhuvan expressed his satisfaction over the performance of UP team in the championship.
