At a day-long party convention here, Rana said, "Given the committed cadre base, upright leadership and presence across the state, the NC will form a stable government."

He said the NC's electoral success in Jammu during the 2008 assembly polls had given the party the confidence of securing a decent number of seats in Jammu and Ladakh in the forthcoming polls. He urged the party cadres to help steer the NC to a massive victory.

Rana also cautioned people against the vicious propaganda carried out by parties like the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for electoral gains. He said the edifice of these parties was built on falsehood and populist measures.

Rana stated that the PDP and the BJP were spreading false information on state subject laws and were trying to undermine their authority.

He added that these parties had ignored the fact that it was Maharaja Hari Singh, who had enacted the legislation in 1927 to save the people of the state from the dominance of the elite and affluent sections of non-state subjects. Rana urged the people to keep an eye on these elements that were aiming to weaken the NC
