A NDFB militant was killed in an encounter with the police in Assam's Chirang district on Tuesday, police said.

A NDFB militant was killed in an encounter with the police in Assam's Chirang district on Tuesday, police said.
Acting on a tip-off, the police launched a search operation in Panbari village of the district since early this morning and an encounter followed in which the militant was killed.
The police recovered a 7.65 pistol with several bullets from the slain militant who has been identified as B Basumataray of the anti-talk faction of the outfit's 3rd Battalion.
The police have intensified combing operation in the area, sources added.
