Little did anyone realise, but it seems 88- year-old former South African president Nelson Mandela always had the making of a rock-star in him, as he reportedly offered his services to British band ‘Razorlight’.

The band’s members invited the national statesman to join the group on bass when they were introduced to him recently.
"Meeting Nelson Mandela was incredible. I asked him if he wanted to play bass in the band and he said no, but he would join if he could play tambourine", Contactmusic quoted frontman Johnny Borrell, as saying.
Razorlight’s debut album Up All Night, released in 2004 reached number 3 in the UK album charts thanks to its simple melodies and multi-layered, easy-going compositions,
The album had received critical acclaim, receiving good reviews from NME, Q magazine and Billboard.
