The convention, held in Kokrajhar district, unanimously adopted a resolution to demand for separate state for the Bodo tribals living in Assam. A four-member committee of the BNC was formed with BTC (Bodoland Territorial Council) chief Hagrama Mahilary as chief.

Around 5,000 delegates participated in the convention. The pro-talk faction of NDFB (National Democratic Front of Boroland) also participated in the convention. Pro-talk NDFB leader Govinda Basumatary is also part of BNC panel. Mahilary said that there was nothing wrong to demand creation of a separate state for Bodos.
