India's new High Commissioner to Pakistan, Satyabrata Pal, assumed charge of his responsibilities on Thursday, a day after arriving in the Pakistan capital.

Pal is expected to establish contacts with Pakistani officials before leaving for New Delhi to take part in the Foreign Secretary level talks to be held on November 14 and 15.

Pal was earlier India's Ambassador to South Africa and Deputy High Commissioner in London before assuming his present charge.
