A man who has earned the label of "one-day specialist".

He is fast approaching 100 appearances in the short version of the game compared to a derisory 17 in five-day cricket.

He made an immediate impact on the game with centuries on successive days against Pakistan in only his second and third one-day matches.

Another four have followed - as well as more than 20 half-centuries - compared to only one three-figure score in Test cricket.

Being left-handed helped his cause early in his career at the top of a batting line-up heavy with right handers.

And his fielding, where he can often be seen sweeping on the mid-wicket boundary, is another string to his one-day bow.
