The decision to extend the subsidy will be finalised at a meeting of the state Cabinet on Monday, official sources said adding discoms have also agreed to continue with their rebate.

The government will provide a subsidy of Rs 75 crore for a period of three months to offset the 10 per cent hike in tariff announced last year.

The Cabinet note is ready and will be taken up in Monday's meeting, sources said.

The capital witnessed violent protests last year when a hike in power tariffs was announced forcing a rollback of the order. Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit had also faced massive criticism including from her own party colleagues.
