The district administration has not yet taken any initiative to resolve the deadlock and resentment is brewing among the education department employees.
On Friday, state president of UP Education Ministerial Officers Association Noorul Islam repeated the demand of the employees to arrest the teachers who manhandled joint director, education. He warned of a statewide agitation if the district administration failed to arrest the teachers and punish them. Talking to mediapersons on Friday, state secretary of UP Intermediate Teachers’ Association Panchanan Rai demanded a vigilance inquiry to probe the properties earned by the education department employees in a very short time, disproportionate to their known sources of income. Launching a tirade against the education department employees, Rai said corruption in the education department had crossed all limits.
Appreciating the steps taken by the teachers’ leaders of launching an agitation against the prevailing corruption, he said the teachers’ association would support the teachers and the steps should be welcomed by all sections of society.
Responding to a question, Rai said that the impasse was not good. He suggested that the divisional commissioner should invite both the parties for an amicable and honourable solution of the conflict and assured that the association would cooperate fully.
He also demanded that economic harassment of students and their parents by the principal should be checked and expressed concern that without greasing the palm of the education employees’, teachers could not get promotion orders or pension and other GPF funds in time.
