University Grants Commission (UGC) Chairman Prof Sukhdev Thorat will be the chief guest while AU Vice-Chancellor Prof RG Harshe will preside over the function.
A two-member event management committee consisting of Prof AK Singhal and Prof JN Bhargava, has been formed to supervise the preparations for the function. Prof Singhal, the head of the committee, said that the preparations had been completed.
Giving the schedule of the programme, Prof Singhal said: "The function will begin with lighting of the lamp by the chief guest followed by Saraswati Vandana and kulgeet by AU students. VC will deliver the welcome speech and present a memento to the chief guest. Member of AU Executive Council and faculty in Delhi University Prof Ravi Srivastava will deliver the introductory speech while AU Registrar Prof US Rai will propose the vote of thanks. Prof VC Pandey will compere the programme. Prof Thorat will deliver a speech on "Social exclusion and inclusive policy."
"We have sought co-operation from several departments, including music, for the success of the programme. The district administration has been requested to make security arrangements and we have even directed the AU's internal security personnel to check any untoward incident during the function," said Prof Singhal.
"We have sent invitations to all members of AU Executive Council and AU Academic Council, judges, AU teachers, famous academicians and elite personalities of the city," added Prof Singhal.
Registrar Prof US Rai said that all the offices at Senate House Campus would remain closed on the occasion.
