Notorious criminal shot dead
A NOTORIOUS criminal carrying a reward too was shot dead by police in an encounter in front of a cinema in Bhelupur area on Thursday night. An accomplice of the slain criminal managed to flee. Police recovered a motorcycle, a pistol and some live and empty cartridges.

The deceased criminal was identified as 35-year-old Murari Seth, a resident of Madhyameshwar locality. Seth was carrying a reward of Rs 5000. The police wanted him in 36 cases of heinous crime.
SP (City), Anant Deo said police action occurred after information had been given to the police control room. The control room had been informed that two motorcycle-borne miscreants had tried to rob a man in Cholapur area and had fled towards the city area at 8.30 pm. The cops launched a combing operation to search for the culprits.
The Bhelupur police station cops station were also engaged in the search near Vijaya cinema. At 10 pm, the cops spotted two youths on a motorcycle. When they signalled to the youths to stop, one of them opening fire on police team from the two-wheeler.
The cops also retaliated. As a result, the man pillion sustained a bullet injury and fell. The vehicle driver left the motorcycle on the road and fled.
The deceased criminal had killed two persons in Shivpur in 2003. Earlier, he was carrying an award of Rs 10,000 but that had been done away with as eh had been arrested. However, later, on November 25, the police had declared that Rs 5000 would be given to anyone giving information about Seth.
