Earlier, as per NCERT rule, the examination was conducted for Class Xth students.
However, students studying in class 10th had been given the chance to appear in 2007 and 2008 examinations. Thereafter, only class 8th students will be allowed to take the exams, said Director of Bureau of Psychology, Dr Pratima Mishra.
The first round of state-level examination will be held in every district on November 12, 2006. In the morning session from 8 am to 11.30 am, class 10th passed students may appear while in the afternoon session from 1 pm to 4.30 pm class 8th students may take the examination.
She said that a number of changes had been brought in the pattern of Talent Search Exams question paper by NCERT for the class VIII students.
Notably, the State level preliminary selection for 500 students is carried out by Bureau of Psychology here.
Thereafter the selected students appear in second round of exams of NCERT followed by interview. A total of 1,000 students are finally selected and given the national scholarship every year.
