Archana Mishra, the US-based NRI, was robbed of her cash and travel documents near the Gandhi Maidan police station here Monday.

"The criminals snatched Mishra's bag which contained Rs.75,000 ($1,700) that she had withdrawn from an ATM, her passport and other documents," an official said.

A police complaint was lodged in connection with the crime.

This was the third incident in recent times when an NRI had fallen prey to criminals in the state.

Cash and jewellery were looted from an NRI's house here last month, while robbers stole items worth over Rs.200,000 from another NRI two week ago.
