Nurture human values: IG Zone

THE INDIAN Institute of Pulses Research (IIPR) celebrated its 14th Foundation Day here on Tuesday. Inaugurating the function, Inspector General, Kanpur Zone Rizwan Ahmad stressed upon the need of creating human values in all the economic activities. He added that any economic activity devoid of human values would fail to achieve its objectives. The IG suggested that people should regard Indian traditions in every walk of life and should also aspire for strengthening Indian values.

Develop new seeds to boost pulse production: Dhande

THE INDIAN Institute of Pulses Research (IIPR) celebrated its 14th Foundation Day here on Tuesday.

Inaugurating the function, Inspector General, Kanpur Zone Rizwan Ahmad stressed upon the need of creating human values in all the economic activities.
He added that any economic activity devoid of human values would fail to achieve its objectives.

The IG suggested that people should regard Indian traditions in every walk of life and should also aspire for strengthening Indian values.

Ahmad also stressed that intellectuals should take a lead in nurturing human values and social integration.

IIT-K director Sanjay G Dhande hailed the progress made by the IIPR in the field of research aimed at developing hybrid pulses.

Dhande also stressed the need for developing new seeds to boost pulses production in the country.

He added that at present there was stagnation in the agro-production.

He called for introducing new paradigm to develop new technologies for managing the available natural resources in efficient manner.

Former IIPR director Dr Shanker Lal said there was need to make basic studies in all crop improvement programs. He stressed upon integrating new screening methods such as carbon discrimination for identifying drought tolerant genotypes.

IIPR director Dr Masood Ali presented a brief resume of research programmes being carried out at the institute such as transgenic genomic, pyramiding of resistance genes.

On the occasion, Sanjeev Gupta of IIPR was given the ‘Best Scientist Award’.
