Odisha sizzles with season's highest temperature of 47.5 degree

Odisha on Friday sizzled with Balangir in western parts of the state registering the season’s highest temperature of 47.5 degree Celsius.

Odisha on Friday sizzled with Balangir in western parts of the state registering the season’s highest temperature of 47.5 degree Celsius. Another western Odisha town Sambalpur was close behind with 47.4 degree while two other centres Sonepur and Titlagarh touching the 47-degree mark, an official of Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre said.

The heat wave was so widespread that at least five other centres like Jharsuguda, Talcher, Hirakud, Bhawanipatna and Sundargarh also recorded temperature above 46 degree Celsius. State capital Bhubaneswar recorded a temperature of 41.8 degree.

The official said the heat wave condition would prevail over some parts of Odisha for the next 24 hours.
