“The ‘nayika’ series shows peacock symbolising the Almighty and the colours used are mostly yellow and orange. For the nocturnal effect, blue has been used,” says the artist. “I have attempted to revive the classical Indian form of painting by using linear style and texture based on the traditional art style of the country,” says the artist, adding that his motto is to highlight the traditional art forms. He has painted 251 pictures in the nayika series out of which only 40 are being displayed here.
His previous series was ‘Lady Near Ganga’ in which he projected the contrast between poverty and affluence.
