Briton Anthony Davidson sounded optimistic after a Jordan test that could pave the way to a Formula One race drive next season.

Briton Anthony Davidson sounded optimistic on Tuesday after a Jordan test that could pave the way to a Formula One race drive next season.

The BAR test and reserve driver completed 58 laps at the Silverstone circuit after losing time in the morning when the team had to change the car's Toyota engine.

"It was a good test," the diminutive Davidson told the Autosport-Atlas website, although he had to sit lower in the car than usual.

"I had a proper seat fitting with the team last Wednesday, and the seat had proper support, but I was just sitting a bit too low in the car," he added.

"The guys did everything to get the pedals close to me, but I was a bit too small. Luckily I know the track well and I got used to the car fairly quickly. I could push harder in the afternoon."

Jordan's current drivers are Indian Narain Karthikeyan and Portugal's Tiago Monteiro, who finished eighth in Sunday's Belgian Grand Prix.
