Pak lawmakers to observe I-Day in India

A delegation of members of Pakistan National Assembly would arrive in India on Saturday to participate in the eighth annual candle-light vigil.

A delegation of members of Pakistan National Assembly (MNA) would arrive in India on Saturday to participate in the eighth annual candle-light vigil to be held at Red Cliff on Wagah border on August 14.

The vigil is being organized by the Hind-Pak Dosti Manch in collaboration with the Folklore Research Academy.

"The candle-light vigil programme is being organized regularly at Indo-Pak border by the two organisations for strengthening bilateral ties. This time Pakistan Government has allowed four of its MNAs to go to India to celebrate Pakistan's Independence Day on Indian soil," Folklore Research Academy president Ramesh Yadav told reporters.

Noted journalist and former MP Kuldip Nayyar, Ram Gopal Yadav MP, cricketer and MP Navjot Singh Sidhu along with other politicians will arrive on Indo-Pak border to participate in the vigil on August 14 night on Indian side", he said.

A similar programme would be held in Pakistan. A large number of politicians along with human rights activist Asma Jehangir would participate in the programme to be held at Indo-Pak Joint Check Post.
