Earlier, Singh was upset over the way party leaders were ignoring major issues and not initiating a discussion to identify the weaknesses and plan remedial measures. Singh had even boycotted the State BJP working committee meeting held here on April 4 and 5. He had gone to the extent of circulating a letter among the delegates, criticising the leadership.

Singh told the HT his decision not to attend party meetings was aimed at pressuring the leadership to talk about relevant issues. He said he had no longer complaints, as the party had started working on the desired lines andhad even decided to hold meetings for listening to workers. It was a demand he had raised long ago.
