The response of the residents is encouraging, PCA treasurer GS Walia said about PCA's appeal earlier this week for providing accommodation to around 7,500 visitors in view of shortage of hotel rooms.
"The residents have already sent in offers for about 400 beds," Walia said adding that offers were still pouring in.
The host association has already booked all available rooms in the state guest houses, hotels, dharamshalas and community centres, Walia said.
He said that some shrines have also offered to run 'langars' (community kitchens) to help the visitors who will be accomodated in their premises.
The PCA has also made arrangements for 130 journalists — 65 from Pakistan, 55 from India and 10 from other countries — in the media box.
Arrangements for 30 photographers have also been made in the ground.
