Hours before Congress President Sonia Gandhi meets party leaders to discuss the stalemate in Jammu and Kashmir, PDP has said that it is ready to sit in the opposition if its demand for heading the coalition was not accepted.

"We are ready to sacrifice power and sit in the opposition if our demands are not accepted by the Congress," PDP Vice-President Mehbooba Mufti told PTI here.

While reiterating the party's desire to form a coalition government along with smaller parties and independents, Mehbooba said PDP would not compromise on its stand on regional aspirations.

"We are ready for negotiations and will continue till the last moment. But there will be no compromise on the demand that the alliance be led by us" she said.
