People?s Republican Army was set up in early 90?s by a People?s Liberation Army dissenter, Prakash, who had earlier surrendered.

People’s Republican Army (PRA) was set up in the early 90’s by a People’s Liberation Army (PLA) dissenter, Prakash, who had earlier surrendered to the authorities.

PRA came into being with the primary objective of countering PLA.

PRA had allegedly instigated the Pangal-Meitei communal clash in May 1993 in which more than 90 people lost their lives.
