These non-aided colleges have been warned by the Parishad that if more than 10 examinees are caught copying at the centre during this year's Board examinations then the college will be debarred from becoming the examination centre for ever. Board also clarified that it may reconsider the recognition of the college in future. As many as 327 colleges in Meerut, 203 in Allahabad, 118 in Varanasi and 173 in Bareilly regions have been warned by the Board authorities this year.
Notably, the Board has created 4150 exams centres for High School and Intermediate examinations commencing from first week of March 2006. Over 600 colleges which were centres for Board examinations in 2005 have not been made centres this time on the grounds of mass copying and threats to outside centre superintendents and invigilators.
The managements have also been instructed to ensure full cooperation to the outside centre superintendent as well as the invigilators during 2006 examinations otherwise get ready to face serious consequences.
To recall the Board had received several serious complaints last year regarding the exams centres where copying was promoted by the college to help students pass the examinations, apart from non-completion of syllabus and improper strength of teachers in proportion to students.
Board officers told HT Allahabad Live that even 46 per cent of non-aided colleges were excellent as far as quality of quality and discipline were concerned.
The board took such a decision after going through the reports and physical verifications by the education department teams.
