The union Health Ministry is likely to announce cancellation of this year’s All-India Post-Graduate Medical Entrance Examination.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has found that apart from large- scale cheating by candidates in Chennai, the question paper was leaked to some of the doctors who sat for the exam in Delhi.

CBI on Thursday arrested four doctors in Madurai and Pondicherry, the masterminds of the scam. During interrogation, the four confessed to having bought a ‘pen scanner’.

This was used to scan the question paper in the examination hall, was transmitted to the doctors who then prepared the answers and sent them back via SMS.

The candidates had managed to smuggle in cellphones inside the examination halls, some had a bought just a day before the exam. The four charged up to Rs 10 lakh from the candidates.
