Sources in the hospital revealed that there could be number of candidates who took the help of the gang to get successful in the exam and the institution has no mechanism to detect them. And in view of rightful candidates, the exam, which was taken by more than 7,000 candidates, could be cancelled.

However, Manju Wadwalker, PGIMER spokesperson, on Monday said, “We are waiting for Central Bureau of Investigations (CBI) to complete its inquiry. We will take final decision only after their report.”

On Sunday, the hospital had announced postponement of declaration of the results of test for MD/MS courses for an indefinite period. In normal circumstances, the result would have been declared a day after the exam.

It is important to mention here that seven women candidates who were arrested by CBI on Saturday allegedly appeared in the exam just to leak the question paper and thereby act as facilitators for other candidates.

It has also been reported in ‘ht live Chandigarh’ on Sunday that these young women did not hold MBBS degrees and some were merely matriculates or Class 12 passouts.
