A large number of people thronged different ghats to observe the last day of Pitra Visarjan. People took a holy dip in the river Ganga and later offered Ganga Jal and Pind daan for the peace and satisfaction of their departed ancestors.
People also donated clothes, food grains and money to the Brahmins. The pond of Pisach-mochan was over crowded with the performers. Since wee hours on Friday, people started thronging the pond and ghats. People also shaved their heads to observe this day.
It is believed that those who do not know the demise date of their ancestors can perform Pind daan on the day of Mahalaya (last day of Pitra Visarjan).
