Police bust gambling den

THE CANTONMENT police busted a gambling den that was operating on the lines of a casino. However, the stakes in this den were not too high. Police also recovered six video game like machines. Police arrested 18 persons along with the kingpin Chandra Shekhar Kesarwani who was operating this gambling place in a rented room in Rajapur locality. Police arrested 18 persons along with the kingpin Chandra Shekhar Kesarwani who was operating this gambling place in a rented room in Rajapur locality.

Murder accused arrested: The Kaundhiyara police arrested a murder accused here on Saturday. They recovered a .315 bore country-made pistol and two cartridges from his possession.

Krishna Kumar Singh carried a reward of Rs 2,500 on his head. He was wanted in a murder case since 1999.

He had burnt the body of his victim to destroy evidence.

Dowry death case: The Shankargarh police registered a case of dowry death after a 25-year-old woman’s father lodged a complaint.

Pushpa Devi’s father told the police his daughter was harassed for dowry ever since her marriage to Ramesh Nishad of Phulwara village. Pushpa Devi succumbed to burn injuries after her clothes reportedly caught fire when she was cooking. Her in-laws were absconding ever since. Police sent the body for a post-mortem.

Dies: A Pawan Express passenger was killed when a pole struck him near Shankergarh. Vivek Tiwari (20) was hanging from the train when the accident took place. He died on the spot.

Woman dies: A 33-year-old woman succumbed to burn injuries in a private hospital on Saturday.

Susheela (33), wife of Shyam Lal, was admitted to hospital with serious burn injuries on April 4.

Her family members said she sustained burn injuries when she was cooking at home.

Burnt: A 56-year-old woman sustained burn injuries while cooking. Shanti (56), wife of the late Jamuna Prasad, resident of Mohatsimganj, was admitted to SRN Hospital. Her condition was stated to be critical.

Accident: A five-year-old girl was killed in a road accident at Khadesar village, under Bara police station, on Saturday morning.

A bus hit Nirmala daughter of Sipahi Lal, near her residence in Khadesar village. The driver sped off with the bus. The body was sent for post-mortem.
