Polling booth blasted by PWG

A polling booth at Kollukula under Markapuram Assembly seats was blasted by PWG in Prakasam district, a report from Ongole said.

A polling booth at Kollukula village under Markapuram Assembly constituency was blasted by PWG in Prakasam district, a report from Ongole said.

About three armed naxals went to the polling booth after half-an-hour of voting in the village and asked voters to disperse from there and election staff to come out, police said.

Later, they blasted the booth in which EVMs were also destroyed. The polling was stalled and the matter was reported to returning officer, the report said.

In the same district, a clashing group of TDP and Cong supporters damaged EVMs at a polling booth in Konipalem village under Kondepi assembly constituency, the report said.

A report from West Godavari said, an assistant polling officer K V Basva Rao (39) died following heart attack just before the commencement of polling. Rao, an employee of Vijayawada Panchayatraj department, was deputed at Anantpalli village on election duty.

The complaints of technical snag in EVMs and deletion of names from voter list were also reported from Kappaleshpuram and Gangavaram mandals of Rajahmundry Lok Sabha constituency in East Godavari district.
