Voting was underway amid tight security Thursday for 16 of Madhya Pradesh's 29 parliamentary seats in the second and last phase of Lok Sabha polls in the state.
Voting was underway amid tight security Thursday for 16 of Madhya Pradesh's 29 parliamentary seats in the second and last phase of Lok Sabha polls in the state.
Polling began at 7 am across the state where 20,889,797 voters, including 9,791,017 women, are eligible to exercise their franchise.
The poll fortunes of 231 candidates, including nine women, will be sealed on Thursday. The highest number of polling centres at 1,834 is in Indore constituency while Dhar has the lowest at 1,383. Tight security arrangements are in place at sensitive polling centres.
The constituencies going to polls are Morena, Guna, Sagar, Ratlam, Gwalior, Damoh, Rajgarh, Khandwa, Indore, Bhind, Tikamgarh, Ujjain, Dewas, Mandsaur, Dhar and Khargone.
While Bhind, Tikamgarh, Ujjain and Dewas are reserved for Scheduled Caste candidates, Mandsaur, Dhar and Khargone are reserved for Scheduled Tribes.
