Postmaster arrested for NREGA funds misuse

A postmaster was arrested on Sunday and FIRs were lodged against Makhdumpur Block Panchayat Samiti head and an employment supervisor in connection with siphoning of NREGA funds in Bihar's Jehanabad district, police sources said.

A postmaster was arrested on Sunday and FIRs were lodged against Makhdumpur Block Panchayat Samiti head and an employment supervisor in connection with siphoning of NREGA funds in Bihar's Jehanabad district, police sources said.

The sources said Naresh Kumar Verma, post-master of Saren post office were arrested and FIRs were lodged against Mohan Prajapati, block head and Bhushan Kumar, employment supervisor for misappropriation of NREGA funds meant for the workers.

One Suchit Paswan lodged an FIR with Makhdumpur police station complaining of cheating and criminal conspiracy. Paswan alleged that 25 labourers had worked under NREGA scheme who were denied their dues by the trio.

The block pramukh took their thumb impression by duping them and withdrew the money in collusion with the post-master and employment supervisor.
