“Prominent power generation projects including Vishnu Prayag (400 MW), Shri Nagar Hydro Power Project (330 MW), Roja Thermal Power Project (507 MW), Jawahar Thermal Power Project (800 MW) were given to the private sectors but work of these project is yet to be completed”, they said.
They said that due to faulty power policies of the state government, Uttar Pradesh was reeling under sever power crisis. They raised question that when the privatisation of power distribution sector had failed in Orrisa, Delhi and Greater Noida then what was the need to impose privatisation of power distribution system to private sector in UP.
“The decision of the UP government to give Anpara ‘C’ power project to the private sector is unfortunate”, they said, adding, ‘had the government constructed this project with financial assistance of a Japanese funding agency, UP could have been getting 1000 MW of surplus electricity at present.”
